Hiking Everyday to School

I was standing outside the house this evening, when my nephew Arvind (the dude with the glasses) and his two pals came cycling back from scholl. They stopped to say a brief Hi...

They appeared quite surprised when I asked them if they were returning from some Hike organised by the school. I was aghast when they told me that they carried the same kinda luggage to school everyday and that they dont have a desk/locker where they can leave their books behind. Can you see the size of the backpack/school bag each guy is carrying ?

I went to a school where we were given individual desks with a flip-open cabinet where we could leave behind text books that we didn't need for home-work or revision that evening. Of course we ended up carrying something like 5-6 books, but that's what we needed for that evening. Heck, why carry the whole years' books everyday to and fro school is something that beats me...

Assuming the option of providing individual storage to students may not be possible by all schools for comercial reaons, they could still put up common pigeon-hole design racks with locks.

Hmmmm....
